Welcome to Hooked on Walking Holidays and our walking holiday on Tenerife. Tenerife is part of the 7 Canary Islands located off the African coast , it is the largest of the group. It is also pretty unique as it has situated in its middle is Spain’s highest peak Mount Tiede. To the south of the peak the landscape is very barren and desert like, it is where the majority of the beach lovers head for, to the north of the peak the landscape is totally different , forests , green vegetation and wonderful scenery. Our 7 night level two hiking vacation on Tenerife explores all the wonderful regions on the Island. Your walking holiday on Tenerife will show you the nice green parts as well as the barren red stoned Mount Tiede region.

Day 1 Arrival in Orotava.

On arrival in Tenerife, you pick up your rental car (not included, book separately) and drive to the first accommodation in the north of the Island. You stay in a small welcoming hotel in La Orotava with its lovely historical quarter and lively Plaza de la Constitucin. If you get to Orotava early in the day, you’ll have time take a stroll along the steep and narrow lanes to get better acquainted with your surroundings. 1.5 hours.

Day 2 Orotava Valley 12.5km up/down 550/550m 5.5 hours.

A circular walk through the lush vegetation of the Valle de Orotava. Ascent to Los rganos, an endless series of rocTenerife walking holidayk formations whose shapes resemble, as their name suggests, organ pipes. In clear weather you will have unforgettable views of the valley and El Teide.

Day 3 La Montaeta to Silos 19km up/down 300/1200m 6.5 hours.

Today’s walk is from La Montaeta to the villages of Las Arenas Negras (Black Sands) and Erjos. Then the last section of the walk takes you along an ancient path, through bay laurel woods and farmland, to reach the charming village square in Los Silos. Enjoy a cool drink here in the shade while you wait for the bus to Garachico.

Day 4 El Palmar to Buenavista 13km up/down 500/900m 6.5 hours.

From El Palmar, on the western part of the island, you walk through open woodlands, across farmland and along spectacular ravines to reach the small village of Teno Alto. You then cross a high plateau, wandering through bizarre surroundings and dwarfed by giant euphorbia plants. In clear weather, you will have splendid views of La Gomera.

Day 5 Circular walks from Las Caadas del Teide 6-10km up/down 250/250m 600/600m.

This morning you drive 1.5 hours, from Garachico to your next accommodation: El Parador de las Caadas, situated at the base of El Teide volcano. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the impressive surroundings with 2 walks to choose from: a short, circular walk around the Roques de Garcia (3 hours), or a more demanding yet rewarding ascent to Guajara, the second highest peak on Tenerife (5 hours)Tenerife - hiking vacation.

Day 6 Pico El Teide or onward to La Laguna 16 km up/down 70/180m.

Day 7 Northern Tenerife 16k up/down 40/600m, 5-6.5 hours.

Today you start off with a beautiful drive to the northernmost part of the island, where you have a choice of routes to explore what some consider to be the prettiest part of Tenerife, with its coastal footpaths, deep ravines and picturesque white farming villages.
